~ Psalm 8 ~

This is another thing I wrote almost a year ago, but is truly, one of the best inspirations for me.   I really wanted to show how we are all special and how what was created was to be a testimony for Christ.  But also, how we are to take care of it and to give the glory of it all to God.

Last night as I was falling asleep, the only verse that I could think of was Psalm 8:3-4.  Over and over again it went through my head.   It’s just that when you look at all of creation, everything that God hath made, why is He mindful of us? There are so many beautiful masterpieces the He has designed… but yet He chooses us to be the stewards and the ones who enjoy it all.

When I walk outside, right after a storm and the sun is setting; I can’t help but notice the beautiful canvas that has been laid before me.  All of the colors painted with careful hand across the vast sky, with such vividness! I could lay there and try to touch it, and just wonder at the beauty.  And though I try to capture it, Gods masterpieces are always becoming better each night and I can never contain their beauty.

And then as the sky fades from the blues to black, you see the glorious host appear!  And to think that each one of the stars received a name from God!  Each created with such mystery and design.  And even if one dies, a painting in the heavens leaves us a reminder of what once was there.

But bringing us back to earth, we come from the outer edges of the spiral galaxy down to the spiral of our DNA.  To think, that before we were born, we were all there.  He had already laid out the blueprint for how we were going to be! Everything single part down to the very last detail was there, and we had yet to know our own NAME!  He foreknew it all.

Just to see how everything works as it should, without flaw or mistake.  All is perfect in His creation.  He makes sure everything stays together.  From the gravity that holds planets, stars, and all on earth in place, down to the laminin shaped like a cross that holds our very cells together.
“For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” ~ Colossians 1:16-17 ~

But then to gaze at the delicacy of a simple flower… and as you look closely, you see the careful design that was already in place.  Every petal, stem, leaf, and cell was in place so it could be the enjoyment of us.   They very hues capture us, but there is so much more! We hardly take the time to notice the pattern within each of these gifts.  We don’t see the fingerprint, the spiral, that God has placed on each one.  And if one were to take a moment and look at the iris, you would see the three sets of the trinity.  All this and more, waiting to be discovered.

We lay on the dewy ground only to gaze up at magnificent trees.  Each starting from something so small….we wonder how it could grow into something so strong! But here we find the parallel for we “do not support the root, but the root supports you.”  What is this? When we look at the tree, what is the only thing that keeps it in place? It’s roots, no? In our lives, what is the only thing that supports us, even if we are shaken in this world? Our Lord Jesus Christ.  So here, He has placed His message for us to find.

We then find such beauty in the morning songs of the birds. We watch them for hours on end as they happily play I the wind and chatter to each other.  But we notice that they do not mind the work when presented to do it.   They are busy little workers that care for themselves and each other.  For though they have little, God cares for each.   And if ever there is danger, they will see to it that all are safe.  But even if one sparrow or swallow were to fall to the ground, it would not happen without the Fathers knowing.  But yet, even we are most important than birds!

And as we watch these darling birds, all clothed in such vivid colour and gifted with such lovely songs, we see the sun peak its head over the horizon.  Yes, even as I sit here I can see its golden beams filtering through the true green leaves of trees.  And as it’s back looks as though to the true blue sky, it hangs in place as though by an invisible string.  But as we look deeper into the sun, though its very presence confounds those who try to explain its existence, we see what God may be trying to tell us.

The sun brings all life to the earth, it gives us warmth, we greet it every morning and say goodnight every evening.  The sun keeps all working on the earth and without it, all would surly perish.  And God has placed it perfectly in the center of our universe.  But when one takes the time to look into it, one sees a deeper meaning than what was presented.   For now, without The Son, we would not have life.  Without His light, all things on earth would perish for sure.  We greet each other on each morning, and we say good night each night when we read His Word.   And as with the sun, He is at the center of everything that we do.  He keeps everything in the balance.   And through the sun, what He has created, we can see this.

So now after all of our wanderings through the vast expanses of creation, we must return to who it was meant for.   Though I could continue on forever, for there is so much more to be brought to light, it would take more room to write than what I could possibly fathom.  We people are fascinated by all that He has created, but yet we always seem to forget who it was created for and who is meant to take care of it.  We forget the person.

“Men go abroad to wonder at the heights of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motions of the stars, and they pass by themselves without wondering.”  ~ Augustine

And through all my wonderings, the only words that I can find to say are “Our God is so Amazing!” I can lay there for hours just looking at all that He has created, there is never a dull moment.  But through everything, I think He created it for us to enjoy.  For us to see that His hand is in everything.

His Fingerprint.

But as I marvel at everything, I can’t help but go back to the verse where it says “What is man that thou art mindful of him?”  For in all the beauty of creation, what are people? Our life is but a breath, a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes.  What makes us so special? The answer is simple and it is found ‘in the beginning’.  For God said “Let us make man in Our image and in Our likeness.”  We are in the image of God! The very thought is incomprehensible for me!  We were not just created, we were formed in the likeness of God! And he knew us before we were even born as it says in Psalms 139.  And as we were created in His image, we can see what our Father has made for all of us.  For us to consider the heavens and all He created.  And in everything He created, there is a message that always brings us closer to Him.

“How precious are Your thoughts, O God!  How vast the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand.”

~ Psalm 139:17-18 ~

“For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and godhead; so that men are WITHOUT excuse.”
