Review: To Keep Time

One of my favorite things about The Twix (my name for Twitter/X) is all the new friends I have found, especially in the poetry world. I shared one friend’s poetry book recently, and To Keep Time is a collection by another friend, Joseph Massey. I will admit, his style is not the typical form of poetry I read, as my favorites are definitely more traditional and structured in nature, but I still enjoyed his collection. Much of it was reminiscent of Japanese and Chinese poetry, which I admire. A couple portions of his poems stirred memories of moments from a couple of years ago, and the book even inspired a poem of my own. Massey depicts the world in a unique way, capturing the essence of a moment, not simply describing what is in front of him. He writes in a way of seeing time, not simply experiencing it. I encourage you to pick up this copy, or another of his collections, and enjoy some modern poetry this month!

Blessings to you and yours,
