Review: A Child’s Garden of Verses

Happy Poetry Month! In an effort to have more poetry in my life and my children’s lives, I decided to get a book of poetry just for them (ok, and for me too). I first borrowed a copy from the library. But after reading it with my kids (my three-year-old son especially seemed to love the illustrations), I got a copy for our home. I love Stevenson’s poetry and some of my favorite poems come from this collection! Here and here are posts I did a while back before I knew about this book. Published originally in 1885, there are now several versions of this book with different illustrators (usually watercolors and all beautiful). But as far as I’ve found, they all contain the same collection of poems as the original. And though this book is a “child’s” garden of verses, Stevenson’s collection will delight everyone. I really cannot recommend this book enough. This month, I highly encourage you to read this book and enjoy the wonderful world of poetry Stevenson has to offer!

Blessings to you and yours,

~Madelyn Rose Craig
