One of the slyest ways the evil one tried to lure people is by mixing the truth with his lies. There are many things in this world that may have a “moral” aspect to them, they seem to have a dash of good, and may fall into our line of thinking that it must be good and true. In fact, some may have a bit of truth in them. God has written His Law on our hearts, and innately we know what is right and wrong. Unfortunately, we twist the truth to fit our human reason and desires. However, if it is not of God, then it doesn’t really matter how “good” it appears to be. For in the end, it will only lead people away from God.
And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebub! By the prince of demons He is driving out demons.” So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.”
~ Mark 3:22-24 ~
This is the realm of Satan, and he will use whatever is in this world to draw people away, including tainting hat was created by God to lure people towards himself. There are a lot of ideas, religions, and ideologies that sound so good that they must be true. But they are not. It is because of this reason that we as Christians must know our Bible, God’s word, well enough to discern the truth from a lie. One thing that my father used to tell me was, “put it through your Filter, the Bible. And if it is in line with God’s Word, than it is good. If any part is not, steer clear of it.” Christ will never contradict himself. If the Bible says that something is right, it will be right. If wrong, then it will be wrong. There is no middle ground. It is in fact that supposed “middle ground” that Satan displays in order to cause people to doubt. Understand this: A kingdom cannot be divided against itself, and neither can a person. In the end, we all have to choose one side or the other. And ultimately, we have two choices: the side of Holiness with Christ, or the side of devilish things with Satan. Christ holds no middle ground, and He will never come in any form other than truth. Any middle ground we think we are standing on is in truth not on the side of right.
